The Diva by Orange Mountain Bikes
April 29th, 2010 at 06:24 pm by FreshAire in General Fishing ClubsMost of the major bike brands have something to offer women in the form of standard models tweaked to fit the female form: Orange mountain bikes are no different.Often known as women specific designs, the jury is still out on how much need there is for such models. Until relatively recently, the girls by and large managed with standard models. But Orange mountain bikes and other brands do have a point when they says there are obvious differences between the sexes and that bikes should reflect that in order to give the most comfortable ride.
In designing their bikes for women, Orange mountain bikes identified that women are generally that little bit smaller than men and tend to have less variation in the size of their bodies. Because of all that, the Diva by Orange mountain bikes is sized slightly differently with slightly different geometry to the men’s standard model so that it better fits the female body and is more comfortable to ride.
Women generally need slightly shorter and lower bikes and generally find lighter bikes give them an easier and more comfortable ride. The good enws is that the Orange Diva Five can offer all of this. The majority of mountain bikers will know the Orange mountain bikes’ Five, which is a classic amongst mountain bikes. You can barely hit a trail without seeing a few about. Perhaps you’ll even see a few Diva Fives about. But are they any good?
The Orange mountain bikes Diva Five comes in a choice of short or long sizes.Regardless of the size, the bike is still based around the standard 14 inch Five. The most notable difference between the Diva and the standard is the build kit: 165mm cranks are used in the place of 175mm ones. There is of course a women’s saddle too.
Air suspension on the front and back of the bike results in a good lightweight model. Narrower handlebars, women’s saddle and shorter cranks also make it a comfortable bike to ride. Don’t let the comfort factor fool you: Hope breaks and Shimano gears ensure this is still a fearless ride.
In all, you can’t argue that Orange mountain bikes have done quite a good job on the Diva Five.Taking a classic design and tweaking it to be more accommodating for the girls was always going to be a winner. If you’re on the lookout for a great women’s trail bike then look no further.
