It is important that every human being finds an opportunity to relax and unwind from the pressures of everyday life. Fishing is one of the most popular activities in the world, and there are hundreds of thousands of anglers enjoying the sport every day.

For almost every angler there is a type of fish. Many people choose to only fish for one or two species, as they enjoy the skill development hunting that type of fish entails. All fish are different and have different habits. This is one reason that makes fishing so unique.

Some fishermen enjoy setting off on their own during their free time to see what the lakes and rivers offer. Others, however, prefer a planned fishing charter.

Fishing charters are the ideal adventure if you don’t have all the equipment needed to fish but would like to all the same. Fishing charters are not all the same though. And it is important to consider the following points before doing so.

1. Cost of the Charter

You will want to collect enough information to gain a good idea of what you get for your money. What is included in the price? What equipment will the charter provide?

If there is a payment or deposit needed before setting off on the trip, how much is it and is it refundable if you have a change of plans?

Do their costs seem reasonable to you? If so, great; if not, look elsewhere for another charter that is more suitable. Remember it is up to you to schedule the trip that you want.

2. The Length of Each Charter Trip

You should determine how long the fishing trips will last. Many captains will allow people to do extra fishing before docking. Does this cost any extra? If you are not happy with the answer, say so.

Also, if the time frame or duration on the water is liable to change, you need to know in advance. Some charters even charge by the minute. Since you are the person paying for the time, it is crucial you know what you are getting.

3. The Captain

Find out information that is available about the captain. What chartered fishing experience does he have? The more experienced he is, the more you will likely get out of your trip. Any captain should be more than happy to answer a few questions for you before you decide to opt for his charter.

These few points are very basic. However if you follow through with them, you should have a terrific fishing charter adventure!

We live on a lake in central Minnesota. This lake is one of the premiere fishing lakes in the state. Many people come here on day and week fishing trips. Most people bring their own boats, but there are others that go out on launch trips or hire one of the many private fishing guides to take them out fishing. This allows for business opportunities for many people that live on the lake, but people should make sure that the fishing guides that are hired know the lake as well as the feeding patterns of the fish.

We had fished this lake for many years prior to buying our home. My husband had been fishing here when he was a young boy. With the modern technology of GPS and lake mapping on marine electronics, it is very easy to find different depths and fishing spots on the lake. After we had lived on the lake for a year my husband contacted one of the local fishing guides and asked if he could enter some his fishing spots on the lake on his GPS. This particular guide has been very successful on the lake. He told my husband that he did not want to share the fishing spots because he did not want a lot of other people fishing where he was. My husband mentioned this to a friend of ours that owns the local bait shop. The bait shop owner laughed and told my husband that this particular guide does not know how to use GPS and so he does not own a unit, which is why he did not share any of the fishing spots. The bait shop owner told us that there are no requirements to pass in order to be considered a guide. He said that many of the people that advertise their services as fishing guides simply take people out in their boats and hope to catch some fish. Some people are more successful at this than others, but there are no requirements.

I was surprised by this information. If I was going to a lake to fish I would assume that the people that are listed as fishing guides would have safety training and other certification in order to take others out onto the lake. You do have to have coast guard training if you have a launch or a boat over thirty five feet, but there are many guides that have twenty foot boats that take people out fishing. This was disappointing to my husband because one of his retirement dreams was to be a guide on the lake. Now that we live here we realize that there are more than enough people already offering to guide. I told my husband that we should look into having an actual service that would provide a more special outing than just a day in a fishing boat. We are going to plan a business around the adventure of fishing rather than just advertising guide services.

Taking a bass fishing vacation is may be not every one’s “cup of tea” but to a hardened fisherman with eyes only for a quiet spot on a lake somewhere, it’s akin to being in heaven.

A bass fishing vacation is more than just heading to your favorite water hole for a few days. In North America, anglers have an extraordinary choice of vacation options and even if you’re not too experienced with a rod and reel, organized packages where the sole aim is to get you to feel the excitement of reeling in a giant bass, are available.

Bass Fishing In Mexico

Us anglers have the added benefit of being able to head to Mexico for a few days and do battle battle with some of the biggest bass on the planet.

Lake El Sato offers some of the best fishing anywhere and better still, some of the biggest fish. Cabo San Lucas is a great bass fishing vacation destination where even the world’s worst angler could reasonably be expected to land a fish. Organized fishing trips are available all the time in Mexico and it’s one of a bass fisherman’s prime targets for fun and pleasure.

USA Packages

A bass fishing vacation in the US means working out the best times of the year to visit a certain destination.

The first question that you want to ask yourself is where you want to go, Alabama, Arizona, Maine, Florida, California, North Carolina, the options are endless.

Then you have to ask yourself how long do you want to be gone, maybe it’s just for a weekend or as long as a few weeks. Once you figured that out then you have to ask yourself how much money you want to spend.

This can depend on whether you’re in a camping mode or prefer more comfortable accomodation. You could spend anywhere from $78.00 to $300.00 dollars a night. It all depends on the accommodations and amenities, whether or not if you want to stay in a tent or a full service resort all depends on you.

The advantage of using a bass fishing vacation package is that the travel agent will do all the foot work for you but it comes at a price.

Alternatively, you can organize the trip yourself and if you’re an experienced angler then this should be no problem. Finally, the most important decision of all – do you take your better half? If you do and she hates fishing then make sure you choose a destination where there is ample shopping choices. It’s a great way to score “brownie points.”
