Climber from Nepal, 77, oldest man to conquer the summit of Chomolungma or Mount Everest
June 14th, 2008 at 06:27 am by FreshAire in Mountain BikingHis first found him within 156 metres of the peak when his team stopped to help a fellow mountaineer who was left for dead. Two years later, Bahadur Sherchan, a University of Calgary alumni, returned to the Mount Everest to finish what he had started.
Andrew Brash last attempt resulted in the rescue of Lincoln Hall, an Australian climber who was left by his team in the “death zone.”
Bahadur Sherchan and four climbing guides reached the 29,035-foot (8,850-meters) summit of the world’s highest mountain early Sunday, said Ramesh Chretri, an official with Nepal’s ministry of tourism.
Min Bahadur Sherchan returned this week from Nepal after successfully climbing to the summit of Chomolungma. As he planned for the climb, Sherchan told reporters he wanted to inspire fellow senior citizens. He also said many Nepalese have established records on Mount Everest, so it was only fitting that the record for the oldest climber to reach the summit should also belong to a Nepali. “The Chinese weren’t allowing anybody on Everest. They ended up commandeering it for themselves, even though Mt Everest is shared by two countries. They flexed their muscles this year all the in name of the Olympic spirit, but it was hardly spirited at all.”
With the Chinese preparing for the impending summer Olympic Games, Min Bahadur Sherchan noted that the government’s actions hardly reflected the Olympic spirit. This season alpinist Loeff is reporting the scales for Everest after he reached the summit of earlier this year.
Indeed, he was all too aware of the potential dangers Chomolungma could bring. Certain parts of the climb are more dangerous than others and it is important for climbers to remain focused Hall was frostbitten and severely disoriented due to altitude sickness. Andrew Brash returned a hero to Calgarians. The Chinese were flying their airplanes over the Mount Everest and had Chinese officials in Kathmandu. More than 3231 people have climbed to the summit since it was first conquered in 1953 by New Zealander Edmund Hillary, who died in January, and Nepal’s Tenzing Norgay.
They basically coerced the Nepali government to not allow any climbers past camp two on the Nepali side. The 75-year-old man from Nepal is now the oldest person to have reached the top of Chomolungma or Mount Everest. Further, the decision to actualize a long-time personal goal left Bahadur Sherchan with some internal uncertainties, he cited the political actions of China and Nepal as providing the greatest adversity he faced on his journey. “Mt Everest this year became a political pawn,” he said with some frustration.
Sherchan — just 22 days away from his 77th birthday — beat the age record set last year by 71-year-old Japanese teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa.
Now that Andrew Brash has successfully scaled the tallest mountain in the world, he is once again ready to focus on his family.

Searching For Amazing Concert Tickets Or Best Seats? Look No Further!
March 11th, 2008 at 04:07 am by FreshAire in Mountain BikingMy neighbors are very active . They love to go out as much as possible . We rarely see them as they are always going to one thing or another so they don’t have kids at home to worry about. departing for one of their adventures I mentioned that some friends were coming in from Michigan and I was looking for Amazing Concert tickets for a concert I knew they would love. She explained that she utilizes an on-line site that you can purchase tickets for just about event. They sell baseball, basketball, hockey and football tickets, Concert Tickets, theater tickets and tickets for so many Best Seats. The other advantage is they are priced well below what I planned on paying. She utilizes these websites so often and recommends them to others she feels like a walking advertisement for them. I told her I would try getting in touch with them for the Amazing sports tickets that day. I was able to purchase the tickets with no problem and now that I know it is so easy to find tickets for all these thrilling events I just may have to take my wife out a little more often. My job makes me travel more than I would like to. Sometimes I fly in, do what I need to do and fly right back home. I don’t always have the time to check out the cities that I visit . Next month is what I am looking forward to, my favorite trip: Chicago. I had never had the chance to journey there before but I was a big Bears fan and my intellect was making plans by now. Seeing the Bears live in Chicago would be the best part of my work trip . I planned an extra day in Chicago to finally see the Bears play at Soldier Field. I had no idea how to get a ticket and didn’t want to chance missing the game. I have no friends to call in Chicago to inquire where to get tickets. A colleague of mine mentioned that the last time he needed Event tickets he went on-line and found a site that was able to get Best Seats for all different events. You could buy Concert Tickets, Theaters, Las Vegas tickets, Best Priced Sports Tickets and much more. I couldn’t move rapid enough. I just had to get in touch with this company to get my beloved Bears tickets. My work agenda is very frenzied and I don’t always know when I will have time accessible to do the things I take pleasure in doing. Many times I have to make plans at the last minute if I want to take benefit of my time off from work. I found I was missing out on a lot of Best Priced Sports Tickets and Concert Tickets because I didn’t have the time to wait in line for tickets. Usually by the time I wanted to buy tickets for the latest hottest events and concerts they were all sold out. The other problem was that if, by coincidence , tickets were accessible they were so overpriced I didn’t have enough money to purchase them. When I reveled this to a buddy of mine he asked if I was living in the dark ages. He told me I should know better than to wait in line for tickets. Everybody knows that you can use the Internet to find just about anything you need or want to buy. I just didn’t think about buying tickets on my computer. I utilize my computer constantly and it would be so easy for me to get Best Seats by ordering them on-line.

Buying A Mountain Bike Online
February 10th, 2008 at 04:17 pm by FreshAire in Mountain BikingBuying a mountain bike online is a big step, but it doesn’t have to be a mistake as long as you know what you’re getting into. Don’t be fooled by appealing advertising and great looking bikes, however. It doesn’t matter how good the mountain bike is. If it doesn’t fit, you won’t enjoy riding it. Your first task is to learn about mountain bikes before you begin shopping, including the important factors in making an informed decision. In the final analysis, buying a mountain bike represents a long term investment.
First, get a good professional fitting, to tell you what type and size of bike is best for you. These may be free, or they may cost you up to seventy-five dollars. However, in the end, they’re worth it. Any good bike shop that you get a fitting from won’t pressure you to buy there.
Once you know what your size and ideal frame type is, start looking at mountain bike brands and features you like. These days there are a great deal of options available, and learning about these is essential. Decide what kind of frame material you like best (steel, aluminum, titanium, and carbon are the most common, with steel and aluminum often being the best deal). You can find much useful information about mountain bike purchases at this discussion about top mountain bikes.
Determine what kind of suspension is being included – no suspension, front and rear suspension or just front? More suspension costs a bit more, but it also gives you a gentler ride. Next turn your consideration to brands that appeal to you. While you shouldn’t buy entirely on the basis of brand name, those with good records such as Trek, Specialized and Cannondale aren’t a bad place to start. One thing you can be sure of is that a proven brand like Specialized Mountain Bikes will provide you years of good service.
Online you’ll find a number of bike retailers, as well as a wide variety of mountain bikes being offered both by retailers and individuals on eBay. Buying bikes on eBay requires a bit of caution. Pay close attention to the condition of the bike, the feedback about the seller, and the shipping and handling costs. Also, remember that many Ebay sellers can make mistakes in measurements, and that your bike might arrive with damage or wear that you weren’t expecting. If you exercise some caution, you can save a lot of money on an otherwise expensive mountain bike purchase, by paying close attention to the bike’s condition and the nature of seller feedback and shipping and handling costs.
On the other hand, buying from an online bike retailer may prove to be a little safer. It’s always important to check up on the online store and make sure that they’re reliable, too. Know your bike retailer’s return policies, too, and see if there’s a warranty. If a warranty is available, it’s a good idea to buy it. That will act as an extra safety net for your new mountain bike.

Super Bowl Fans Traveling to Phoenix Are Taking Advantage of Luxury Resort Memberships
January 14th, 2008 at 04:25 pm by FreshAire in BMX, Mountain BikingWashington, DC (PRWEB) January 14, 2008 — Smart Super Bowl fans are taking advantage of discount luxury resort memberships as an alternative to hotels during the Super Bowl. The February 3, 2008 Super Bowl game will bring thousands of guests to Phoenix, Arizona, and hotel rates are expected to rise to meet the occasion.
In order to get around the traditional price swells of high demand seasons or events, more consumers are using discounted resort memberships as an alternative to hotel stays and timeshare ownership. These memberships do not include the maintenance fees, blackout weeks or exchange fees normally associated with timeshares, yet members are able to enjoy the same big name luxury resorts at substantial savings, and without a timeshare presentation or other obligation.
Business travelers are also using discounted resort memberships for corporate housing. Contractors and employees find extended stays away from home much more enjoyable when a beach or world class golf course is included in their temporary housing.
Members may also travel during any week of the year, and for as many weeks of the year as they desire, as membership is based on a ‘pay as you go’ system. Members can book luxury golf, ski, beach or year round resorts in the range of $300 to $800 for an 8 day and 7 night stay. These are the same high profile resorts available on Travelocity, Orbitz and Hotwire at $1,200 to $3,200 per week. Discounted shorter hotel stays and cruise opportunities are also included in the membership.
A current member states, “The membership has been able to book impossible weeks during COMDEX in Las Vegas and Spring Break in a number of hot spots year after year. I’m sure they’ll continue to do the same this year for the Phoenix area during the Super Bowl. We just book a week from our membership web site, confirm everything with our customer service rep, and go.”
